Danie joined Cluver Markotter Attorneys in Stellenbosch in 1998 and worked with the late Koos Basson who advised role players in the wine industry on liquor legislation from 1973 until he retired in 2004.

 

Danie is currently the Chairman of the Cape Law Society’s Specialist Committee on Liquor Law which represents attorneys practicing in liquor law.

 

He advises Vinpro, the wine industry organization representing approximately 3500 grape and wine producers as well as the SA Wine Routes Forum, representing the South African wine routes.

 

Danie's client base includes two leading supermarket groups, restaurant chains, producing wholesalers, many wine estates, restaurants and hotels.

 

He has published numerous articles on liquor law on the internet as well as in industry magazines.

 

He also keeps role players in the liquor industry up to date on developments in Liquor Law via Twitter (@Danie_Cronje) and Facebook.

 

He is a multi-sport athlete who had been selected to represent South Africa at the Cross Triathlon World Championships and the Long Distance Duathlon World Championships. 

 

He has represented Western Province at the SA Triathlon Championships and the SA Duathlon Championships. 

 

He has also completed five Ironman triathlons, three Two Oceans ultra-marathons and many multi-day mountain bike races and trail runs.
